What is Submersible Pump?
A submersible pump, like any other pump, is used to move liquids from one point to another. We can divide submersible pump two semi-submersible pump and total submersible pump. The major difference between a submersible pump and any other type is that it is installed completely submerged in the liquid that it is required to pump. This type of pump has a hermetically sealed motor which is close-coupled to the pump body.
Application
1) Convey corrosive and abrasive liquid medium (solid content is no more than 15% ).
2) In chemical industry, metallurgy, power industry, paper making industry, food industry, pharmaceutical industry and synthetic fibre industry
Advantage
Priming: They don’t have to be primed. They are self-priming because they operate below the surface of the fluid being pumped.
Efficiency: A submersible pump has the head pressure of liquid on the suction end to help it operate. It doesn’t need to use as much energy in drawing liquid into the pump and is, therefore, more efficient.
Corrosion: Submersible pumps are often used to handle corrosive and abrasive liquids. Seals are especially prone to corrosion, which leads to leaks and damage to the motor. To counteract corrosion these pumps need to be made of corrosion-resistant material.
